On January 1, 2006 State of Illinois law changed the penalties for violations of disabled parking spaces. Fines for violations on the UIUC campus have increased to $250 per violation in keeping with State law. Violators may also be subject to immediate towing and additional fees. Under some circumstances State Law provides for additional penalties should the situation warrant such action. These penalties will be imposed on vehicles not displaying a disabled parking placard or license plates, for vehicles with invalid or expired placards or for any misuse of disabled parking placards.
